Subcultural Podcast
Subcultural is a Mailchimp-produced podcast exploring diverse subcultures, celebrating the communities and stories that make them. I led design and art direction, choosing a vibrant, playful visual language to stand out in an increasingly crowded podcast landscape — clear typography, bold singular colour use, and a flipped photo direction that was simple in execution but proved striking and instantly memorable.
Brief: Create a design system for a podcast that could flex across a wide, unpredictable range of provided imagery.
Solution: Keep it simple and Swiss — apply a single consistent flip to every image supplied. It's an easy system to scale, and it doubles as a visual pun: subcultures, quite literally, turned on their head.
Result: Enthusiastic audience and industry feedback, a visually distinct identity that cut through a crowded space, and a recognisable system that amplified the podcast's reach and impact.
